YOU DESERVE TO BE HAPPY AT WORK, TO HAVE POSITIVE FEELINGS OF FULFILMENT, JOY AND EASE DURING THAT 1/3 OF YOUR LIFE THAT YOU SPEND WORKING!
If you are here however, I suspect you don't identify with the person on the right and that you feel more often than not like this at work...Overwhelmed, bored, frustrated, annoyed, stressed and worn down by:
  • The ridiculous pace at work
  • Having to get in early and/or work long hours in order to be able to manage your workload
  • Politics
  • Meaningless and tedious emails and products
  • What seems to be a soulless industry
  • Your micro-managing boss
  • Those infinitely demanding clients
  • A role that simply doesn’t feel like you

Let’s be real, you are just NOT happy at work.
Maybe you wish you could just care and let things get to you less?
Maybe you want to make a career change but don’t know how to make it work for you financially?
Maybe you’re afraid of making a bold move and starting from scratch? Is the uncertainty of leaving your field behind making you feel scared?

Is any of the above you?
If you’re unhappy or even miserable at work, I have a burning desire to help you change that!
It’s time to give unhappiness the boot. Let me be your partner in crime, together we can get you to a happy place at work!

★Why do I want to help YOU?

I relate to where you are and how you feel. I went through exactly the same a few years back when I was in my old job. The advertising and localisation industry is a tough place – fast-paced and sometimes unforgiving and just crazy!

Not only did I nor particularly enjoy some of the main aspects that by now defined my role (because there had been a time that I did enjoy it, oh wonders of the promotion), work was literally sucking life out of me. I was very stressed. I hated my job and felt sick in the morning when getting up to work. I was having nightmares about work. I felt a heavy weight on my shoulders. My confidence took a big knock too. Feeling “braindead” became a constant way of being, due to the workload and my being overcommitted to something that actually wasn’t right for me.

I had wanted to escape for a long time but I just didn’t see a way out. I had no energy to send CVs in the evenings and on weekends and I didn’t even know where to start. All I knew was I wanted out – to leave this inhuman industry behind me altogether. But what I should replace it with? I didn’t really know. I was lost and somewhat desperate.

So, believe me, I’ve been there and I want to shorten the cycle of misery for others going through similar stuff. I made it my mission to make this world a bit more stress-free and I feel privileged to now be in a position to help others be happy at work. The world needs happy workers!

★ Now, how can I help you?

I can help you get headspace and see the light at the end of the tunnel. I can help you handle your fears about stepping into something new and I can help you create a viable plan to do so.
I can help you take back control of how you feel at work, be it in your current role via stress management or via a career change.

★ So how exactly do I do that?

I am a Career and Stress Management Coach. I act as a catalyst for bringing you to a place in which you can say “I am happy at work”. If you want to find out more about coaching, click here.

★ What makes me the perfect person to help YOU?

Ultimately this is something you decide, of course. But here is my rationale: Not only have I experienced stress at work first hand, not only have I embarked on the career change journey myself and thus know how it feels and the challenges that come with it,
I also have the qualifications that gave me the skills and tools to help you get to where you want to be.

My coach training was specifically built around the field of careers and how we make decisions in our careers. In addition to that I got trained in Stress Management after realising during my self-prescribed career break that there was a whole field around this. I am also a member of the International Stress Management Association and the Association for Coaching (ISMA and AC).

Most importantly though maybe: my mission today is very close to my heart: I want to empower YOU to dare to be happy at work and then actually be happy at work.

I won’t patronise you and tell you what you should do, what your next career move should look like and which career is presumably the perfect fit for you. Who am I, the career God?.
I’ll help you to become aware of whatever is holding you back from being happy at work and I’ll help you to liberate yourself from it. I am your partner in crime in coming up with a strategy to get a handle on stress or with an escape plan that suits YOU, not your Mom, not your partner, not your boss or your cat.

Your agenda is my agenda and I will act as your thinking partner, your sounding board, your own personal motivator and, most importantly, I’ll dare you to become happy at work, whatever that means for YOU.

I can help you to conquer stress and/or to think of a career change maybe not as a piece of cake but definitely as something DO-able.

After all, I have overcome all of this myself: Uncertainty, an unstable financial situation, confusion, stress, being paralysed by too much thinking. I emerged from my quarter life crisis with a new sense of self and work that I love. I didn’t wait for years and years seeing through a career that I would have looked back on with regrets. Instead I took action and made a radical shift only 4 years into my working life. Most of the coaches I encounter come to coaching at a much later point in their lives and careers.

Today I am actually thankful for my bad experiences in my previous job, as they probably pushed me quite early on onto what is a much happier path for me. I can help you do the same and cut the time short that you feel miserable or displaced at work.

★ What is my special blend of talents?

I am told I am good at...
...listening and making people feel at ease.
...enabling others to think things through for themselves and see things in a different light.
...asking the right questions.
I am told…
...I am warm and encouraging.
...I have a positive energy that is contagious.
...I am fun and professional at the same time.

★ Time for ACTION!

I knew it was time for a change and for investing in myself, the way you might be considering to invest in yourself if you have read up to this point, when I felt I was about to reach breaking point. My health (both physical and mental) had started to suffer from the situation.
I let it go on for too long! I had lost about 11 lbs (4-5 kg) in 1 month time because anxiety was eating me alive. Now, I really hope you aren’t in such a place yet – pretty please DO NOT let it get to this!
Watch out for your energy levels. If what you start observing are different levels of exhaustion instead, you have to DO something.
I knew I couldn’t go on like that and that I needed to take action and change something.
So, based on where I stand now in my own journey, what I want the most for you is:
  • to start believing that there is a way out and that being happy at work is in fact a possible reality.
  • to be able to tackle your fears and go through with what you need to do in order to be happy at work (be it that conversation with your boss or that career change or you name it).
  • to feel light again.
  • to be in a job that lets you feel good about yourself and be happy.

Imagine...feeling clear in your head and relieved about finally moving forward.

Imagine...feeling liberated and empowered, in control of your destiny.

Imagine...having a sense of calmness in you, a certainty that you can handle whatever comes your way.

Imagine...feeling relaxed and even energised about going to work.

Imagine...waking up and feeling at peace and happy.

I personally managed this by taking time out and making my quest for being happy at work a priority. (Warning: I’m not saying that just quitting your job is THE solution, it is one possible step among many that should be very well thought through). I also started reading around the topics of stress and changing careers. It is so true, knowledge is power. I realised I had been over-committing, had been over-demanding with myself and lacked assertiveness in my old job. I not only read books on career change that inspired me (see resources section), I sought out others in a similar position. This validated me. Realising I am not alone in not having things figured out was a huge relief. Realising that I didn’t have to know my destination before taking the first step was an even bigger relief. I adopted an experimental mindset and allowed myself to simply explore and follow whatever piqued my interest in the months after quitting. When I met that career coach during a career change workshop, I knew I wanted to do exactly what she was doing: helping others to be happy at work.

OK, enough. Want some light-hearted fun facts?

  1. One of my biggest passions is dancing. As a result of my career overhaul I also became a ZUMBA instructor. I’m still secretly wondering if another one of my callings is to be on stage as one of Beyonce’s backing dancers ;). In any case my philosophy is: Dance first, think later! (wise saying by Samuel Beckett, oh yeah)
  2. I drink my latte macchiato with 8 packs of sugar (yep, I am a sugar addict).
  3. My friends make fun of me for my non-existent sense of direction –don’t ever leave me somewhere to my own devices without Google Maps!

Oh, and in case you were wondering, here is my “professional bio”:

I have a Masters degree in Cultural and Communications Studies from Germany.
I speak English, Spanish, German and French (though the latter not as fluently anymore).
After leaving the localisation industry, I became qualified in stress management with the Centre for Stress Management and did my PGDip in Career Coaching at the University of East London. Today I work as a Coach and Business Trainer, delivering international workshops which focus on communication and resilience. I became an NLP Practitioner too. As part of my portfolio career, I also worked as HR Consultant in selection, where I screened applications and conducted interviews with candidates. Last but not least, I run my own ZUMBA classes!
